March 25, 2025 at 11:36 amOne of the most amazing pubs I’ve visited. Rich in history , service , and atmosphere! It might be a touch out of the way , but 100% worth the drive. From the money we sat down at our table the to when we left , the staff made us feel as if we were the only ones there. Ours meals came out quickly , perfect portion sizes and most of all … delicious! You can’t help but look around with amazement at your surroundings while in this pub. From the cozy couches seated next to the wood burning fireplace , wonderfully handcrafted timbers , to the various animal mounts hanging on the wall. The Royal Standard will make you feel like you’ve been transported back in time. Definitely worth a stop to see for your self.

May 18, 2025 at 2:20 pmWe stopped here after the Model Village visit for lunch on recommendation. It was a lovely warm day so we sat outside, but checked the place inside due to its history. The food was fantastic: the garlic prawns were the best we ever had, the whitebait, lamb and Cesar salad were all tasty. The IPA and lager we had were ok, not the best. Tried Leffe at draft, but for £10 is not worth it.
You should definitely give it a go.

May 27, 2025 at 12:16 amWhile the food is a bit on the pricey side, it’s steeped in history which is all over the menus and the pub, so it’s a great step into the past as well, and if you’re one for the supernatural, it’s a certified place of haunting.
The staff were all lovely and efficient with their service, the tables even have a QR code for a faster checkout system.
The food itself was brilliant, I have to recommend the garlic cheese bread and pork crackling! Fish and chips won’t fail as a classic main, and if you’re in the area on Wednesdays they have discount steak nights.

June 29, 2025 at 4:17 pmYou can’t get wrong when visiting this amazing historic pub!
The atmosphere transports you to another century whilst the menu keeps your feet on the moderns times. The food and the drinks were all well delivered, served and came down really nicely! So good the pork crackers and honestly everything!
The service was professional and kind and even though there were some miss understandings there was a willing to establish a common ground and solve them.
Don’t forget to get through all the different rooms and see in detail each one of them. They’ve got authentic treasures out of this time!
