Friendly barman, excellent quality cask ales. Something to suit everyone, or to have one of each. Some are served directly from the cask too.
Bar snacks such as Black Country pork scratchings are served, however the Cobs here are something else – massive crusty white cob with a thick wedge of quality cheddar and another thick onion slice on top. Really good and for £2.50 that’s excellent!
The beer keg urinals are a novel feature and their toilet is twinned with one in Malowi for charity, see photo.
Will certainly return.

Wonderful cheese and onion cobs to match the beer.

March 10, 2025 at 10:25 amBest beer and cobs in Leicester. Friendly staff and locals. Always a fantastic range of new ales on the bar to try. A good “old fashioned” but modern bar where you can sit, watch the world go by, chat to friends and strangers alike.

April 5, 2025 at 9:27 amDo you like beer? If you haven’t been here yet, correct that. Small pub with a dedicated clientele. Most days it’s hard to find a seat, but people are friendly and often happy to let strangers join thier table. The cheese and onion cobs are the stuff of legend, and the bar staff are the kindest and most knowledgeable people you will ever see across a bar. Jo and Mitch are wonderful and are able to make recommendations to suit your preferences.

April 20, 2025 at 5:53 pmThe Blue Boar is a pub full of hearty chat with a regular out burst of laughter. The smell of good wholesome beer. No gimmicks here a good selection of beers.
An excellent crowd of people in this small pub but remember it’s all about the beer.
