May 2, 2025 at 7:07 pmA great little pub! Very traditional looking…and quirky. In warm weather you can make use of the public grass area outside, and the benches on the street. I was welcome to take my glass outside and sit on the grass. Very refreshing…pardon the pub.
An obnoxious customer in front of me was dealt very patiently by the staff. Respect to them! The service is very good here, they are very inclusive.

July 22, 2025 at 7:05 pmThis place was great! It was recommended to me by fellow travelers I met on the train, when they found out I was staying in Blackfriars. They recommended the fish and chips, which I ordered, and it did not disappoint. It was the best battered, fried fish I’ve ever eaten. Their tartar sauce was excellent too, but you didn’t really need it. The chips were solid but could have used some salt.
It was absolutely bonkers in there for a Tuesday evening, but the young woman working the table service area very kindly found room for me to have dinner (perks of traveling solo – places tend to be able to find a spot for you).

August 9, 2025 at 1:09 amSuch a cool spot and a great story. One of the oldest pubs in London. Itβs a must visit. I had the cider. The inside is so unique. Please check it out and ask about the history

August 26, 2025 at 5:18 pmWe ate at a number of pubs in London on our trip. By far, this was my favorite.
It has a great selection of beer on tap, as well as a nice selection of gin and whiskey. However, the food was great. We had the diah and chips – very nicely cooked and the steak pie, which was yummy. The also had the best burger we had in all the various pubs in which we ate.
Great decor and quite busy. We had a bit of difficulty in getting all our food in a timely fashion, but it all arrived nice and hot.
