June 30, 2025 at 7:21 pmI am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding an incident that took place on 30/06/2025 at your Tesco 100 New park street, LE3 5NJ store.
After completing my shopping and paying at the checkout, I was approached by a Tesco staff member(Moin) who accused me of using a photo of my Clubcard instead of a physical card. The staff member claimed that this was against Tesco policy, although no prior communication has made this clear to me.
Without properly listening to my explanation, the employee proceeded to scan the Clubcard, print a copy of my receipt, and informed me that this would be handed over to a manager and used to have my Clubcard blocked. I clearly stated that I did not give permission for my receipt to be copied or retained, as it contains personal purchase information and Clubcard data, which I consider private. Despite this, the staff member ignored my objection and kept a copy of the receipt regardless.
I found the staff member’s tone and actions inappropriate, invasive, and a potential breach of data protection under the UK GDPR. I was given no opportunity to discuss or challenge the decision, and I was made to feel publicly accused and embarrassed over a matter I was unaware was an issue.
I am requesting the following:
1. A clear explanation of Tesco’s policy regarding the use of digital Clubcard images.
2. Confirmation of what information was taken, how it is being stored, and for what purpose.
3. Assurance that my personal data and Clubcard are not being misused or unfairly blocked.
4. An internal review of the staff member’s conduct, as it did not meet acceptable customer service standards.

July 1, 2025 at 4:06 pmI visited Tesco on 30th June 2025 at around 11:40 PM with two friends. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. The self-checkout customer service assistant was rude and made racially insensitive comments, including telling us to “go back where we came from.” As a UAE resident studying in the UK, I found this behaviour deeply offensive and unacceptable. It’s shocking to experience such discrimination in a public setting. Tesco should take serious action to ensure all customers are treated with dignity and respect.

July 3, 2025 at 9:37 pmSo the NHS sent my emergency prescription to Tesco out of hours pharmacy. When i arrived at 1900 (2hours before it was due to close) it had closed. Tesco deputy manager response, “i’ll see what i can do” which meant passing a message down to the floor manager to basically tell me “tough” and “no there’s no way we can contact the pharmacist even though they ate supposed to be open and you have blood poisoning”.
Appaling. Lots of meaningless apologies but Tesco procedurally dropped the ball on this. When people are relying on a service they advertise for emergency healthcare it has ZERO contingency.
And to top it off neither the assistant manager or floor manager could be bothered to even take my name in order to follow up.
Shame on you.
