December 6, 2024 at 1:02 amHad a good variety of food but cleanliness was lacking. Many empty boxes on shelves all thrown about, and floors were not clean in areas. Broken jar of sauce on floor was a real turn-off. Should have been cleaned immediately & safety hazard as well. Who knows how long it was there?

February 13, 2025 at 1:35 pmThat review is only about security guy who is working in that store.
The security guy was rude to my 4 years old little one, just because my little one was on his balance bike. I’m always watching my little one, my son is not making any problems while shopping. I don’t want to make any problems to store staff.
My son started crying and was afraid being in this store, because of this security guy.
It seems the security guy doesn’t know how to talk politely to people.
When I asked him, where is any information which he is talking about, he said: he is telling me that, being rude.
After this situation, I found store manager and he was really nice and said sorry for this security guy.
Please, take a look who’s working and their attitude.
And I have seen previous reviews. People were complaining about security guy, but nothing changed.
It’s not acceptable.

July 11, 2025 at 7:44 pmHygiene standards need to raised!
The baskets are absolutely filthy, it has caused me concerns when it comes to buying from the bakery.
If I don’t see an improvement on my next visit, I am going to write a letter to HQ, involving the council and make a formal complaint to the FSA with included pictures of the hygiene practices.

August 9, 2025 at 10:17 amI visited the Church Street, Croydon store this morning at around 8am.
This review is intended for the management to understand that your staff’s refusal to take responsibility for clear pricing errors will inevitably harm customer trust – and ultimately your company’s bottom line.
I purchased a pack of frankfurters marked with a reduced price of £1.03. On checking my receipt, I saw I had been charged £1.59 (£1.99 minus 40p). I raised this with a female staff member who had just assisted a customer at the manual checkout.
The exchange went as follows:
Staff: It’s correct, because the price has been reduced by 20%.
Me: (Pointing to “£1.03” on the pack) But the price here says £1.03.
Staff: (Pointing at “20%” on the pack) It says 20% here.
Me: (Pointing again at “£1.03”) Then what is this price?
Staff: It’s the wrong price. It’s reduced by 20% from £1.99, so it should be £1.29. (Note: she appeared not to realise £1.99 minus 40p = £1.59, not £1.29.)
Me: £1.99 minus 40p is £1.59, not £1.29.
Staff: (Pointing at the crossed-out price of £1.29 on the package) This is the correct price and the other price is wrong.
Me: Then why is £1.29 crossed out? (Note: If £1.29 is the correct price, then why was I charged £1.59??)
Staff: Both prices on the pack are wrong – it should be 20% off the original.
Me: So both printed prices are wrong?
Staff: Yes. I can give you a refund.
Me: No, forget it. (Note: I do not want her to feel like she’s doing me a favour when it’s clearly Lidl’s mistakes!!!)
The issue here isn’t 56p (£1.59 minus £1.03 —- what I was charged minus the “new price” on the pack). It’s the fact that:
– Two incorrect prices were displayed on the product without correction.
– The staff member insisted the till price was right despite obvious contradictions on the label.
– When I pointed out the maths didn’t add up, she still insisted on her version without acknowledging the error.
– There was no apology or ownership – just deflection.
This sort of interaction erodes customer confidence and gives the impression Lidl doesn’t care about pricing accuracy or staff training.
