April 28, 2025 at 12:21 pmReally good choice of food, vanilla clotted ice cream was delicious and coffee was also ok. Nothing spectacular really as the price would comfortably match much better quality in any pub. The atmosphere in the crypt is however very unusual and would not be experienced elsewhere.

May 26, 2025 at 8:45 pmI thought this was a third wave type café but it’s actually a cafeteria style restaurant where large tour groups come and chat about their trip. Not the ambience I wanted (I brought a book w me). Also worth mentioning: the bright church photos are from the neighboring building. They are connected by a hall, but the cafe is not inside the church–it is underneath and next door and quite dark. I was fooled by IG. Pretty inside the cafe but not at all what I expected. I’d skip this cafe for another if you have limited time to sightsee.

June 27, 2025 at 7:49 pmOne of the best hot chocolates I’ve had in awhile!! Popular location but less known cafe in the crypt, would add to the bucket list! I know they host events here also! Many chairs and tables and surprisingly natural lighting ☺️ would recommend for a drink and a cool place to relax from the buzz of the above world!

July 4, 2025 at 4:26 amWe decided to try Cafe in the Crypt during our recent visit to London. Although the service here is cafeteria style (as some reviews mention), there aren’t piles of food getting cold and going bad or anything along those lines. It appeared to me like small, fresh batches of food were being cooked up as needed. The fish and chips we ate were delicious (among the best I’ve had). The dessert was very basic, but still good. It was fun eating in a “crypt” (basically the basement of an old church; don’t expect coffins and such). I’m glad we stopped here for lunch.

August 15, 2025 at 7:01 pmLoved eating here! Fantastic atmosphere and food was just right for a light meal before an evening theatre performance. Chicken was very tasty and my companion had a lovely steak and ale pie – none of the food was expensive. There is a sweet gift shop as well, clean toilets and they host lots of concerts etc. A ‘hidden’ gem!
